Association "Latice" is on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. was on a working visit to the SONČEK Center - Maribor, association of societies for cerebral palsy of Slovenia.
The visit was part of the project "New challenges for children with disabilities" funded by the "Alps Adriatic Alliance" competition from Austria and the Koprivnica-Križevci County, where Center Sonček from Maribor is one of our partners.
The aim of this working visit was to exchange experiences between our two Associations. Dr. Pol also joined this working visit.sheep from Zagreb.
At the very beginning of the visit, our hosts introduced themselves first, the vice president of the society, Mrs. Lidija Šestak – Zorič, presented the work of the Society. The meeting was also attended by the president of the society, Lojze Tomaževič.
SONČEK - Maribor Society for Cerebral Palsy has been operating since 1982. Apart from Maribor, there are 15 other regional societies for cerebral palsy throughout Slovenia.
The society brings together more than 4,000 people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities, their families and professionals.
We had the opportunity to see how they organize their stay for people with intellectual disabilities, how they conduct rehabilitation, and of course, how they finance themselves.
The Latice Association had the opportunity to present its projects, we emphasized the project that we are implementing in partnership with them, which is the rehabilitation of children with developmental disabilities. So, Dr. Polovina also presented the rehabilitation that he is implementing together with his team. The leader of the activity is the Latice Association. Since the association does not have its own capacities to independently implement this complex activity, it is being implemented through a partnership with the Polyclinic for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation "Prof. dr. sc. Milena Stojčević Polovina" from Zagreb.
After the presentation, we all concluded that this was a good start to cooperation that we must continue in the future. It is precisely through such partnerships and networking of similar associations that we can contribute to a better quality of life for people with intellectual disabilities and children with developmental disabilities.
